Citing low roster numbers, Trimble County school officials announced Wednesday the Raiders’ junior varsity and varsity football teams would not take to the gridiron this fall.
A last ditch effort to save the team and dispel rumors resulted in a parent meeting Friday night, but the decision was made Monday to uphold the previous cancelation. Twenty players showed up for Monday’s 8 a.m. mandatory practice, according to a social media post from the school’s athletics program.
